Product Description: Kojic Acid is a chelating agent that is found naturally in the environment and is extracted as a byproduct in the process of fermentation of malting rice. Kojic Acid suppresses the activity of tyrosinase, which is a copper containing enzyme that catalyzes melanin production. After penetrating deep into the skin, the acid chelates (removes) the copper by reducing the PH level around Tyrosinase. Following this, Kojic Acid inhibits tyrosinase activity and restricts the melanin production.
Kojic acid is not only for lightening overall skin tone but also for light and dark skin complexions that can benefit in blending dark areas or spots due to sun damage or natural aging. This for everyone is like getting back the skin tone of your youth. Those with freckles, age spots, blemishes, uneven skin tone and melasma can benefit by using a Kojic acid product. Dark spots and uneven skin tone is the result of over productive melanocytes cells that deposit melanin unevenly. (see "skin damage" below) Since being in the USA I have found a great need for light complexions that have suffered skin damage due to a lifetime of sun exposure, and I have witnessed so many that have had such a dramatic reversal of uneven skin tone and reduction of visible dark spots.
Instructions: First, dissolve with water by adding drop by drop of water to the Kojic acid in a separate bowl, then stir dissolved Kojic acid into your cream, gel or lotion~! If your cream is very thick and stiff, you may want to remove from container, place in another bowl, use hand mixer to mix, then transfer back to the container. Often times you will find that your original lotion gets watery as a result of adding Kojic acid.
Important: Always use Sunscreen when using this product (Above s 30 with zinc oxide as an ingredient). All skin lighteners reduce your ability to guard your skin from the sun's rays.
Also Important: It is not the higher percentage strengths of Kojic acid, but it is the every day application that makes kojic acid effective.
